    Stop Mercenary 2 video game.

The Mercenary 2 video game was developed by Pandemic Studios of California. The game's theme is:

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames™ is an explosive open-world action game set in a massive, highly reactive, war-torn world. A power-hungry tyrant messes with Venezuela's oil supply, sparking an invasion that turns the country into a warzone.

One may think, this is only a game. But Pandemic Studios also develops training videos for the US military. This game can be used to help visualize how Venezuela can become a "war-torn world", and that is something we, as Venezuelans, can't accept. The Bolivarian Circle of Boston has been part of the campaign to stop the release of this video game, together with the National Venezuelan Solidarity Network.

The campaign has concentrated its efforts on reaching one of the large investors in Pandemic Studios, Bono from the rock band U2. Bono, through his investment company Elevation Partners, has invested $300 million in Pandemic Studios. We believe that Bono would not want his name associated with such violent product or that, at the very least, he can demand that Pandemic do a re-design of the game. So that no similarity to Venezuela is used in the game.

Presently we are seeking religious leaders and private citizens to sign a letter to send to Bono.

    Simon Bolivar statue in Boston-

All the major US cities, and other cities in the world, have a statue of Simon Bolivar, except Boston. We aim to change this. Our Circle is working within the community to find the right location for the statue and then to lobby the city government to install the statue.

If you would like to help us in this effort, please send an e-mail to: cbmlkboston@hotmail.com
